Review of What's Your Mark?

I think about the phrase "mirror mirror on the wall" as a rhetorical question sometimes.  I already know the answer to the questions however it challenges me to put them into words and perspectives. The book "What's Your Mark" did the same for me.

I know about and understand the verses that call for me to "leave my mark" on mankind while I am here.  That sometimes becomes difficult in the busy bustling life that I have.  This book allowed me to see how many people fit their mark into the simply every day lives that they live.  I think it's neat and clever too that whenever I look at the cover of the I see the reflection of my face.  With that being said, the book continually reminds me to be the reflection of Christ in all that I do.

The book offers many different people from different walks of life to see how people live their life for Christ. It was nice to read and see different points of view and how they are using their gifts and talents for kingdom work!

It's a good read and I suggestion you pick it up to see how others are striving to leave a mark on their community!

Empty Promises are Exactly That!

I just finished up a great book called Empty Promises that I got awhile back from Book Sneeze.  The book was a great read which gave me plenty of time to think about what things in life that I put as my idols and promise towards myself.  There are plenty of times that I have had to stop reading the book and confess from the convictions that I had.

It's a great reminder that the reason I am here is not for me but for His glory!  I'm not the person who should be believing the lies that the American society wants each and every person to buy into.  We are made for more than what we sometimes let ourselves live for.

This book was a challenge for me with work and my personal life.  It caused me to look at all areas of my life and examine the different lies that I have bought into.

It was helpful to think about the empty promises I have in life so I can focus more on the promises He has for me!

Another Great Read....

This is a great book to open your eyes! It's amazing how each day there are fresh thoughts, topics, and discussions on how great and powerful God's love for us as humans. After purchasing devotional after devotional over years, most of them tend to repeat the same thing or "phrases" over and over again. They may reword the phrase in a new or different manner however this devotional book is like no other. The messages are simple but complex at the same time. The interesting attention to detail will have you reading further in the Bible to search for answers and add to your knowledge. This book is a definite keep for anyone's library. The devotional is also relevant to humans in this current age. A great book to keep on the shelf and keep going back to!

Adventures in Booga Booga Land

This will be an interesting review. Finding myself involved in Children's Ministry, I have found it nice to have some supplemental material to be used in teaching.

Adventures in Booga Booga Land is a children's DVD series with short "episodes" based on different parables. Marty the Monkey and Gerard the Giraffe are humorous kids characters that help tell the stories.

This video is more so in the mediocre form. It was a decent attempt to share parables from the Bible however I know there are much better videos out available for better usage in a Childrens Ministry department.

Overall, I don't think this would be the best option but the choice is obviously yours.

Then Sings My Soul Special Edition Review

Then Sings My Soul Special Edition by Robert Morgan is recommended by me if you enjoy church music, Christmas music, Easter music, etc....basically any music in general. Its neat to be able to put a story with the words you sing.

Having the devotional stories and words to meditate on during the day. I've always enjoyed hearing stories to go along with the hymns and songs that I have grown to love and this book is one to reference in the future.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed reading the story behind some of the most common of hymn. With each story, some of our “every day” hymns are given new meaning, and emotion.

Review of Outlive Your Life

I haven't really ever finished a book by Max however this is one book that I was proud of finishing. From the first page to the last page, I was captivated by the words on the page that brought life to my mind and soul.

This book challenged me to be different in an indifferent world. This book caused me to think so far outside the box and from what I'm normally used to thinking. Now I am called to think less of myself and more of those surrounding me.

This book has challenged me on many levels. One of the chapters is called "See a Need--Meet a Need." I've always enjoyed helping people out but after reading the chapter I began to realize that some of the reasons I help others are to have things to attach to my spiritual resume and make me look good. I was reminded that the reason I should serve one another is not to add to my reputation but because the Gospel should convict me to helping others.

Review of The Hole in our Gospel

Wow! What an incredible book to read and meditate with. This book caused me to think so far outside the box and from what I'm normally used to thinking. Now I am called to think less of myself and more of those surrounding me.

This book has challenged me on many levels. One level that has stuck out the most deals with self vs. others. I sometimes tend to focus on the needs of self before the needs of others. This book has given me the reminder and chance to step back and look to reality about how I need to serve and meet the needs of others--alongside sharing the Gospel. Both meeting needs and sharing the Gospel should work hand in hand and not by theirselves.

I've also learned to appreciate what I have and be thankful for the little things that I often forget. This book has allowed me to refocus my life and lead more to sharing what the HOLE Gospel looks like instead of the parts that we chop up to fit in our lives for which we like.
